Neck and head pain are the second most common problem seen in my office, after low back pain. The cervical (neck) spine is a main area of pain for many people who work at a computer. If you do not obtain sufficient relief with the program I am going to show you I would highly recommend you seek the opinion from a chiropractor. Neck pain that radiates down the arm, is a more advanced condition and you should definitely seek treatment for this. Having the neck adjusted will also aid to lessen or alleviate certain types of headaches and could help with shoulder and arm problems as well. However, unless appropriate techniques are given, such as those I will be showing you, the need for regular treatments or pain will continue. Muscle imbalance and poor posture are main factors in this condition and along with poor posture sitting or driving too long makes it worse. These techniques were designed to alleviate this imbalance.
If you work at a desk, use a computer, or look down frequently, these routines are critical.
|Position of Pain||Procedure|
|Sitting/driving||Neck Stabilization, Shoulder Stretch with Head Rotation, Upper Back Strengthening|
|Looking down, i.e. reading||Upper Back Strengthening, Neck Stabilization|
|Turning head||Shoulder Stretch with Head Rotation, Neck Stabilization|
